About us
Forever Furniture.
Zenkki is a furniture start-up and family run business operating out of Surrey.
We offer sustainable and flexible ways to furnish your space.
We first launched Subscribe in 2021. The aim was to offer a modern furniture rental that works for the urban tenant or home owner. It's not just about renting furniture, but it's about getting access to high quality furniture on more flexible terms. If your circumstances change you don't have your furniture holding you back.
In 2023 we launched BuyLoop™. The aim is to create a fully circular collection of vetted, high quality pieces. We offer customers a choice between brand new (loop 1) and second hand furniture (loop 2-4), while ensuring that items have gone through a full refurbishment process and quality check. If you buy a piece from us, you will be able to return it in the future and get money back. We like to think it's quite unique that we take ownership of the pieces not just to the point they land in our customers home, but forever.
Don't hesitate to reach out on hello@zenkki.co.uk if you have any questions.
Sustainability
In the UK, 22 million pieces of furniture are tossed away every year, most of which sadly goes directly to landfill. By going circular we can keep furniture in our homes longer.
We want to encourage a reuse, repair and recycle approach over the more common consume and discard practice.
Some of the ways in which we do this:
- We allow furniture to stay within a circular system. The furniture we sell is hand picked to be durable, that way we can ensure they will last for many years.
- We restore and repair pieces to their former glory when needed. For example by fixing small scratches or repairing or exchanging spare parts.
- We use eco friendly materials for wrapping furniture. We also make use of materials that might otherwise have been disposed off, so although we might sometimes use for example bubble wrap, it is reused. Some of our suppliers may still use plastic to package their products and rather than throw it away, we try to reuse it, and try to influence them to change their materials. We also encourage our customers to recycle their packaging.
-
More widely, we write about and promote local and international circular and environmental initiatives and companies who are trying to make a difference.
- When choosing furniture partners we take their environmental credentials into consideration, for example:
HÅG designs take into account low weight, fewer components, better choice of materials, longer lifespan and a design that is suitable for disassembly. Their products are easily repaired, cleaned, reused and recycled.
Swyft make their frames from FSC certified timber and support the organisation "Trees for Cities". The plastic they use in their packaging is biodegradable and they aim to be carbon neutral. Their furniture is easily repaired, cleaned, reused and recycled.
Woodman only use locally sourced, GSC certified wood. Their items often use solid wood in parts like legs which means they are likely to last much longer than flat pack furniture made of for example MDF.
Oakywood use ECO friendly materials, FSC certified wood and partner with "One Tree Planted", a non profit organisation which has planted more than 25,000 trees so far.
